About the organisation

Vision

"A nation which is safe for all its peoples, from conception to natural death"

New Zealand (pop. 4 million) has one of the most alarming rates of mortality of any developed nation

In 2003 alone, over 18,500 people were killed through abortion

For many, choosing to abort an unborn child is part of a cycle of abuse which reaches across many generations and impacts all parts of society

Voice for Life has a vision of a nation which is safe - for everyone

Purpose

"To educate and inform; to value and protect the gift of all human life"

To provide information to community leaders and influencers of opinion about pro-life issues

To provide guidance on complex or difficult issues which relate to the protection of the unborn, women's health, families, the old or infirm and bio-ethics

To create an understanding and awareness of the intrinsic value of all human life

Voice for Life is a voluntary organisation, pro-active in the education of people about human rights

History

The origins of Voice for Life are to be found in March 1970, when the Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child was established in Auckland, with Sir William Liley as its National President.

For the next 34 years, the Society continued to promote recognition of the unborn as 'unique, human individuals', increasingly at risk from deliberate abortion.
